Finance Manager Advocate Aurora Foundation

Responsible for the management of the day to day general accounting function and analysis for Advocate Charitable Foundation and Aurora Health Care Foundation (together AAHF) to ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of financial data in accordance with U.
S.
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Advocate Aurora Health's (AAH) accounting policies.
Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the AAH audit work performed by the AAH Accounting Operations team.
Implements and maintains AAH's accounting systems, policies and procedures, process improvements and internal controls.
Works in close partnership with corporate accounting and sites of care.
Supports the annual budget, forecasting and other financial planning processes for AAHF.
Major
Responsibilities:
Manages the month-end close process for AAHF, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely to the general ledger and related subsystems in adherence to the established AAH monthly financial close schedule.
Assist with AAHF monthly financial reporting, supports AAHF Executive Director in the AAHF monthly and annual accounting close processes.
Reviews and approves AAHF financial statements and reports for use by AAHF leadership and AAH leadership.
Prepares journal entries (for review and release by the Accounting Operation's staff) to ensure the accurate and timely recording and reporting of AAHF's fundraising and operating activities.
Provides financial analysis for benchmarking, restricted fund reviews and various fundraising analyses.
Creates reports in various formats to detail and summarize the activity of AAHF restricted funds for use by AAHF leadership, fund administrators and staff.
Assists with the AAH's annual financial statement audit:
provide documentation for testing and respond to all inquiries.
Assists AAH's tax team in preparation of the AAHF's IRS Form 990 and other tax related filingsAssist the AAHF Executive Director and leadership in preparation of the AAHF budget, forecasts and other financial planning processes Ensures ongoing compliance with AAH's internal control program.
Manages departmental continuous process improvement by identifying inefficiencies in work flow and implementation of new improved processes and procedures, by overseeing and participating in the training of team members or others as needed within accounting and finance function.
Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale.
Review of all Restricted Funds that have a balance < $1,000 and no activity during the previous 12 months and implement action identified from review.
Education and Experience Requirements:

S.
degree in Finance or Accounting from an accredited college or university (or equivalent professional experience)
Experience:
Typically requires 5 years of related experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
Strong multidisciplinary competence, particularly analytical problem-solving skills to deal quickly with a variety of problems in complex environments Strong negotiating skills with ability to deal confidently and effectively with internal clients at all levels Ability to communicate effectively with AAH leadership Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, which requires strong organizational skills Familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax rules and other regulatory requirements affecting fund raising for not-for-profit healthcare systems Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Internet research, and use of accounting software Ability to handle confidential information with respect for sensitive nature of the data Ability to operate effectively in a team/matrix environment with demanding customers and challenging issues Flexibility and ability to learn rapidly Strong orientation to customer service Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and government rules and regulations.
